New Member Days

New Member Days is a required hour and half education program for students who are interested in becoming a part of a social fraternity or sorority at The George Washington University. The program is designed to complement chapter new member education by having interested members/new members engage in a variety of topics from what it means to be Greek, how to get involved beyond just membership, risk management, image, alcohol/substance use, sexual assault awareness, and hazing.

The goal is that both new/potential new members will gain a better understanding of the role they fraternity and sorority members play in the Greek community and how to make positive choices that will assist in the elevation of the greater GW community.

What you need to know:

  • All students who are interested in joining a social Greek organization must register/attend one of the sessions listed below

  • Students should sign up as soon as possible - the earlier the better. Unfortunately, because of seating capacity, space is limited to those students who register ahead of time. If you choose to attend a session without registering, you may be asked to leave/attend a different session if there are no more seats available

  • You only need to attend one (1) session

  • Attendance will be recorded and shared with all councils to determine eligibility/ compliance.
