The Greek Standards of Excellence (SOE) is an annual review of chapters' achievements and areas of improvement. Chapters are required to submit a packet of information with everything the chapter has done throughout the year. Chapters are evaluated within the five (5) pillars of Fraternity & Sorority Life (FSL): Accountability, Active Leadership, Community, Scholarship, and Service. The packets go through a three-step process:

  1. A Self-Evaluation - chapters will evaluate themselves based on each criterion asked of them. The rating scale depends on how confident, or not, they feel they executed the event, program, workshop, etc.
  2. An Internal Review - the Internal Review process is conducted by the FSL Staff (also known as the Council Advisor's) and is a conversation with the chapter leadership and chapter advisor(s) on how well they did and what areas they can improve on. Note: the Internal Review has nothing to do with the awards that are given to chapters and is not involved in the scoring process.
  3. An External Review - the External Review is conducted by individuals that work in the fraternity/sorority profession which can include other Greek Advisors from other insitutions, Inter/National Headquarters staff, Leadership Consultants, and alumni/ae volunteers. All External Reviewers must have graduated from an accredited college/university and have a working knowledge of the fraternity and sorority operations and profession. The External Reviewers will rate the chapters and these ratings will be averaged to a combined score that is used to award chapters on their achievements.

Important Notes:
